OfficeScan 8.0 (all versions) still doesn't support auto-scanning for USB/pen drive upon insertion

Can OfficeScan auto-scan USB drive upon insertion?

Shuhada asked me about this. I think it's worth to share with all of you.

A USB flash drive is a NAND-type flash memory data storage device integrated with a USB (universal serial bus) connector. USB flash drives are typically removable and rewritable. Currently, OfficeScan 8.0 (all versions) still doesn't support auto-scanning for USB/pen drive upon insertion.

Possibly, here are the logical explanations on this feature why auto-scan is not yet implemented:
1. Performance issue. For example, if the USB drive contains 4GB files, it is not advisable to have an auto-scan since it consumes additional resources (RAM, CPU)

2. Officescan has a real-time scan in which whenever the file is triggered / open, Officescan will automatically scan it

3. Manual scan. Best practice in handling USB drive is always perform a manual scan to ensure that the files are properly scanned
