Upgrade to Enterprise License

If you install your ScanMail for Exchange 8.0 on Exchange 2003, and you hold an Enterprise license, you will have the EQU feature. But what if, the initial installation was done on Standard license and then only you upgrade to Enterprise license? Will the EUQ feature activated automatically?

The answer is NO. When you go through the setup wizard, if you entered the Standard license code during the installation it would skip the EUQ configuration setting. Your SMEX console is missing with the 'Spam Maintenance' link under the 'Administration' menu. To enable the EUQ feature without reinstalling SMEX, you have to do the following:

1. From the console, enter the new activation code - Enterprise version
2. Edit the registry keys:
JunkMailIntegration value change to 0
EUQActivated value change to 1
3. Reboot your server
4. Login to the console Administration\Spam Maintenance. You will be prompted for Administrator's credential to activate the feature.
5. If the 'Spam Maintenance' link is still missing, you have to edit the following registry as well:
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Services\EUQ_Monitor
Start value change to 2
Type value change to 16
6. Again, reboot the server

That should resolve the issue. :-)
