"Unable to register to the Control Manager Server" appears when registering the Officescan 8.0 server to the Trend Micro Control Manager (TMCM) server

This happened during the training recently. One of the students received an error message saying "Unable to register to the Control Manager Server. Check the Control Manager settings on the OfficeScan Web Console or your network connection".

We tried to register and unregister the agent few times to no avail. I even tried to restart all OfficeScan and TMCM services but was not fruitful. It never occur before, so I searched the knowledge base. I found these solution IDs 1035543 and 1035542. I told them I will need to collect some logs and if needed submit it to Trend Support for analysis. I will update the findings in this blog.

So yesterday, I tried to login to the server and retrieve the log. Much to my surprise, when I logged in to TMCM I saw OSCE entity successfully displayed. Other words, the agent successfully registered and I could even go to the OSCE console via the SSO feature. Thus, there is no need to further troubleshoot the problem as it is now solved.
