Recently while doing the hands on for TMCM 3.5 SSO feature, we discovered something interesting. SSO is the Single Sign On feature in Control Manager. This means when you logged in to the Control Manager and wanted to go to OfficeScan console for example, you don't have to key in the password for OfficeScan console again. It will automatically logged in for you.
We have OSCE, SMEX and TMCM installed on the same machine. Configure the Control Manager setting for both OSCE and SMEX (MCP based agent). From TMCM 3.5 console, the SSO for OSCE console works fine. It was not the same case for SMEX's. Initially I thought because we did not patch the TMCM neither SMEX therefore we received "console session expired" error message. After patching, I still face the same problem.
Thanks to Trend Support for the following explanation. :-)
"...I have tried to replicate the scenario that you have encountered and tried it to my test environment and resulted on the same result that you have encountered. The single sign on feature of TMCM did not work if you have installed both TMCM and SMEX 8.0 on the same machine but it doesn't mean that you can't install SMEX and TMCM in the same machine, only the feature SSO (single sign on) will not work. The true purpose of the feature SSO is able to access the management console of other trend product located or installed at the different machine...."
So guys, it is either SMEX on another machine or just access the console through separated console for SMEX located at Program>Trend Micro ScanMail for Exchange>ScanMail Management Console.
